Most of the time we work on cars, trucks, and SUVs, but every now and then we get to work on motorsports vehicles. These projects are always a nice change of pace from our day to day builds. Now on this Kawasaki side x side we were ready to add plenty of UTV accessories to improve its safety and appeal. To start out we shrouded this Kawasaki KRX1000 with a forged carbon wrap and beefing up its protection. Following this up we added some sound and lighting accessories for more entertainment when riding around on twisty trails, rugged property, or out in the dunes.

Color Change Wrap
The factory base models for these side by sides usually only come in blue or green which leaves a good deal of room for customization. We knew we didn’t want the generic factory look on this KRX, so we selected a captivating forged carbon wrap. Vinyl wraps are a quick and easy way to change the look of vehicle without paying for a new paint job. Using this wrap in particular would go really good with the LED lighting we planned on adding. The wrap features a unique pattern that overlays different reflective rectangles to have a shattered glass or diamond look paired with carbon fiber below.
Front and Rear Brush Guard
Off-roading has plenty of situations where you’re running over branches or getting swatted at by greenery. To protect your side x side from large scrapes and more costly damages an accessory like a brush guard can be a big help. This UTV got a brush guard for the front and rear bumpers to add a strong look while protecting these areas like a suit of heavy armor.
Rock Sliders
Whereas bumper guards protect the front and rear of the vehicle, rock sliders or nerf bars protect the sides. In instances where you navigate though narrow spaces and jagged terrain rock sliders protect underneath your vehicle allowing you to glide over rocks without damage.
Off-roading puts you in a slew of tight spots like being toppled to the side or on your head. In these instances rock sliders also act as a method of recovery because they can be pulled with a wench. So aside from thwarting rocks and twigs away they offer multiple practical uses, and they look pretty sweet!
Protective Windshield and Roof Panels
You’ll often find base model side by sides like the KRX1000 without any kind of windshield or roof. We don’t like being without something to block debris flying in our face, so we sought something that would provide a good blend of visibility, protection, and style. What we decided on were these extremely durable polycarbonate panels that take a lot of force to crack.
They can be highly resistant to scratching too as long as a hard coat is applied. On top of that we made sure that this windshield had an easy to access vent on it.
Racing Restraint System
Adjustability and comfort are big things to consider when talking about safety restraint systems. Driving around side by sides and other UTVs you experience endless bumps and jostling regardless of how great your suspension system is. Being able to adjust your restraints to where they properly fit your height can increase your comfort and safety.
Some of these restraints can have rigid edges that dig into your shoulders, but this Crow racing restraint system has the option to sew in extra cushion on the shoulder straps. You also want to make sure that you have a mid-sized strap because more surface area prevents it from digging in, but too much limits mobility and can grow uncomfortable. If you ever plan on trying to enter a race then you’ll need a proper safety restraint amongst other regulation features.
Boss Speaker System
If you have a side x side then you likely use it to have some fun every now and again. To improve the entertainment features of this UTV we decide to add a set of Boss Bluetooth speakers behind the seats on the pillars. These speakers are awesome because they offer great sound quality without a ton of wiring. Plus as an added benefit they have colorful RGB LED lighting.
RGB LED Lighting whip
Whenever you want a UTV accessory that just adds some style along with safety then these 48″ RGB LED Wrapped light whips are pretty sweet. You have complete control to set the lights to specific colors or have them swap at varying speeds. Just the thought of this tricked out UTV roaming around the trails with flashing lights is pretty sick. It will make sure that you are more likely to be seen in the evening as well.
These light whips are flexible and shock resistant for those few (or many) occasions where you do flip. Another testament to their durability is that they are rated to withstands all kinds of elements keeping water and dirt out when you’re driving in various conditions.
