With the Chevy Suburban being the longest running nameplate, we’ve seen a lot of different versions of it. This chrome delete Suburban alters the 2023 factory mold giving it blackout trim. It also features black powder coated wheels, red painted calipers, and of course some classic window tint.
Black Powder Coated Wheels
Since wheels are one of the more eye-catching parts, we wanted to enhance their appeal. rather than shell out for a whole new set of expensive custom wheels we decided to go for a black powder coat finish. Choosing a powder coat finish for your wheels changes their look with a few extra bonuses.
A powder coat finish will enhance the durability of your wheels while allowing you to change them to any color you’d like. It’s sturdy finish resists chipping from debris and forms a layer of protection against chemical damage. Powder coatings can also be used on parts like truck tow-hooks, skid plates, exhaust tips, or other metal parts to further personalize your vehicle.
Red Painted Calipers
While the wheels are getting powder coated the brake calipers get a touch up too. We improved the styling of this custom Suburban by painting the calipers a rich glossy red. Painted calipers help to add a layer of protection against corrosion that extends their life span. Just be sure that your calipers are coated with a heat and chemical resistant paint since they take a beating while on the road.
Chrome Delete Trim and Blackout Emblems
Next comes replacing all the chrome trim with blackout parts. Our chrome delete begins with a huge blackout replacement grille that changes this Suburban’s appearance right of the bat. Using a blackout grille cuts down on the labor costs of painting and its impregnated plastic resists damage form road debris. Beneath the grille is a blackout lower bumper as well.
Following the addition of the grille is an all-new collection of black chevy emblems and nameplates. These new emblems break up the Suburban’s factory mold making room for a more personalized style.
The rear hatch valance is then replaced while swapping out the emblem on the trunk. The new black trim provides a strong contrast against the white body paint that the old chrome trim doesn’t provide.
Our last areas to treat are the roof rails up top and the fragile window molding. After all these parts are reinstalled, you can boast a sophisticated Chevy Suburban with chrome delete trim.
Smoked Side Markers
Along with the chrome delete trim we darkened the orange side markers by the wheel wells. Adding a light tint film or smoky tinted clear coat will prevent the bright orange from sticking out and taking away from the new look.
Window Tint
To boost this Suburban’s interior protection and style we added some 3M window tint. One overlooked benefit of window tint is its solar energy rejection. Being able to block some sunny rays will keep your interior cooler during heat waves while protecting you and your interior. Plus, the classic look that window tint creates lends your ride some style points!
Tint is a great appearance upgrade to any vehicle, but it’s important to know that not all tint is made equal. We only use 3M tint because of their benefits over competing brands. We wrote a whole article about the benefits of 3M tint to help you learn more before making your decision.
Tints are offered from 5% to 70% with the lower numbers being darker. The % measures VLT (Visual Light Transference) which quantifies how much light comes through the film. When you go to select your tint, you need to keep in mind your local laws, so that you don’t get ticketed. We always recommend a professional install for this modification. Poor tint jobs will bubble and discolor over time. Make sure your window tint installer has a good warranty to protect your investment!
