Satin Charcoal Gray Vinyl Wrap
Starting off we removed all the trim accessories and installed a Satin Charcoal gray color change wrap. Using a wrap like this changed the finish of the truck from gloss to a satin or matte look. Satin finishes aren’t seen very often and creates a tactical look for the truck. Vinyl wraps allows for tons of color and finish potential that can be removed later to change or sell the vehicle. Color flip wraps in particular a very eye catching!
Like PPF vinyl wraps can also provides some protection for your vehicles paint. Most vinyl wraps will last you around 5 years, but if you take good care of your wrap it can last up to 8 years. If you don’t care for your wrap or don’t let someone with experience install it, then it won’t last as long. For more information on vinyl wraps and the best tips on caring for them ask your installer or visit 3M vinyl.
2-Inch Level Kit
Installing a Rough Country 2-Inch leveling kit on the F-150 allows for a better stance and some added offroad function. In addition it leaves a bit of extra room for wheel and tire upgrades later on.
If you are buying an aftermarket lift, be sure that it’s compatible with your vehicle! Certain trim levels won’t be suited for every lift. Some shops like ours will source the parts for you to help make sure you get the right fit.
Offroad Tires
Once the lift was installed we wanted to find set of tires that were widely available, offroad capable, and somewhat fuel efficient. We landed on some 285/65R18 Open Country AT II tires from Toyo. These offroad tires offer great traction both on and offroad while improving the look of the truck.
Black Powder Coated Wheels
Wheels are another big area that can change the look of your ride. This F-150 rolls out the factory with a sturdy spoked wheel design, but to make them look more aggressive we powder coated black. Powder coating allows for styling without wasting the old rims and saves some cash unlike custom designs.
Powder coat finishes are durable with tons of color options available to choose from. What makes the powder coat finishes a great option are the benefits like increased durability, better color coverage, cost efficiency, and a more environmentally friendly impact.
Painted Calipers
Behind the black powder coated wheels you’ll notice a slight pop of red. We hit the brake calipers with a special durable paint to add a level of depth to the design. Painted calipers are an easy way to add a subtle personalization to your truck. Above all else painting the calipers helps to prevent corrosion which keeps them looking good for the road ahead.
You can cover painted parts of your car with a ceramic coating solution to repel dirt and grime making the extremely easy to keep clean.
2-Inch Wheel Spacers
Before re attaching the new wheel and tire setup we installed 2-inch wheel spacers from Rough Country. Installing some wheel spacers improves the visual stance of this lifted F-150 and gives the handling some improvement.
Running Boards
Side steps like these Westin Outlaw running boards provide swift mobility in and out of the cab. It’s a big plus to every truck that provides easy access for family members, or to cargo secured on top the roof. You might think that’s about all side steps are good for, in which case you’d be wrong. They also provide a place to scrape off dirt, snow, and mud before entering the vehicle which helps keep your interior clean!
Black Leather Seating
Inside of this custom truck’s cab we chose to upgrade the cloth upholstery with black leather. Katzkin premium leather seating offers great options to fit whichever style of vehicle whether its a solid color or something more unique. The type of leather seating we chose for this custom 2023 Ford F-150 was full black to keep it classy and simple.
I’ll let you in on a secret, you don’t have to spend more cash for a higher trim level when all you want is leather seating. The XL and XLT trim levels for the F-150 don’t get leather seating and the next trim level after XLT, the Lariat trim, is about a $7,700 difference! Whereas getting custom leather heated seats from Katzkin is way less than half that and can raise the value of your car.
If you decide on getting leather seats, make sure you find a preferred Katzkin installer for a professional installation. We offer factory match, or custom leather seating from Katzkin and Alea, so you’re more than likely to find something to fit your ride at a shop like ours.
Chrome Delete Trim
Even though Ford has started making more vehicles with blackout packages many F-150s feature chrome accents. For this charcoal build we knew that we wanted that black and grey color combo, so we got to work installing new blackout parts. We began by replacing that big chrome grille!
Next we replaced the XLT fender vents and door handles and any other specks of chrome. With the full chrome delete completed it fits the aggressive stance and black wheels on the build.
Blackout Emblems
Custom emblems rock for giving your Ford F-150 pickup that custom feel. The blackout Ford badges on this F-150 deliver new styling that highlights that it has personal touch to it. Small details like changing the color of custom emblems, calipers, and tow hooks add captivating details to your truck’s appearance
Premium Window Tint
Capping off our chrome delete is some classic window tint. Window tint is actually recommended by the skin cancer institute because it protects passengers from the sun harsh UV rays. Of course window tint film has that classic cosmetic appeal too that completes the blackout style.
Using high quality 3M Premium FX tint film, we applied a 35% tint on the front windows leaving the back windows at their factory shade since they are usually darker. We always recommend checking local laws on tinting and a professional install for this modification. Poor tint jobs will bubble and discolor over time. Make sure your window tint installer has a good warranty to protect your investment!
Potential Add-Ons
There are tons of other accessory upgrades you could add to the 2023 F-150 depending on what you use your truck for. For some additional utility we suggest adding a tonneau cover for the bed. Tonneau covers can add security to your truck as well as a clean look! If you’re using your truck for work adding tool boxes or a ladder rack would be recommended.
Consider these additional accessories as you decide how to build your F-150. Remember if you ever need any help to build your ride, we are always happy to help!
