The Cadillac Escalade has been revered as a legacy among luxury SUVs. To give this old-school brand a fresh new look we removed all of its chrome trim. This newly styled Cadillac Escalade fits in to the modern era with bold new look that challenges traditional luxury. Check out the new parts of this custom Cadillac Escalade as you keep on reading.
Chrome Delete
Chrome deletes are the perfect modification for all kinds of vehicles, but especially luxury SUVs. This chrome delete Cadillac Escalade has a sleek streamlined look that gives off a more athletic feel than the original.
Starting with the grille we swapped every piece of chrome with a blackout replacement part. These parts offer a complete permanent replacement as opposed to a vinyl wrap or painted chrome which can chip. Each part is made with special black plastic that’s then painted black which hides wear and tear from road debris.
Blackout trim also extends to parts like the roof rails, fog light bezels, and lower bodyside molding. Other parts get a special treatment like the side indicators which are darkened using tinted clear coat that creates a smoked look. Of course small areas like the door handles also receive chrome delete treatment.
One of the more critical areas to work on in a blackout build is the window trim. This build eliminated all the chrome window trim including the larger quarter glass window pillar.
On the tailgate we got to work replacing the hatch trim and the Escalade name plate lettering. These all-black trim accents provide strong contrast that make the car’s design pop.
Final chrome delete parts included the rear bumper trim along with the exhaust tips. Each of which got coated gloss black to bring every last bit of the accent pieces together.
Blackout Cadillac Emblems
It can be hard to pick between monochrome or blackout Cadillac Emblems. Ultimately it depends on if you want them to stand out or blend in. Blackout emblems on this build erase all the chrome and pair with the black mesh grille. This creates a more low profile styling that focus attention on the whole vehicle as opposed to its branding.
Powder Coated Wheels
After we installed all of the blacked out trim on this Cadillac the wheels stuck out to much. To alter their styling we added a black powder coat finish to the wheels that helps to complete the look.
Powder coat finishes provide great benefits. First off, their flexibility of design can allow the wheels to be customized in just about any color you want. The second upside of a powder coat finish is they have long-lasting durability. These powder coat finishes help provide another layer of protection for your ride’s wheels against debris and chemicals.
Window Tint
To wrap things up we added a slight 30% window tint to create that classic allure. Applying a tinted film to the windows will protect your interior seating and plastics, valuable cargo, and most importantly you from the sun’s harsh UV rays. There is also the obvious style and privacy benefits that come with it as well.
Using high quality 3M Premium FX tint film we darkened the front windows to match the rear a bit better. Rear windows are usually darker when the leave factory because they are made with a tint dye, and don’t always require extra tinting. Most often we use 35% tint films on 1st row windows in accordance with Missouri laws. It’s important to learn more about window tint which is why we wrote a whole article on it.
We always recommend a professional install for this modification. Poor tint jobs will bubble and discolor over time. Make sure your window tint installer has a good warranty to protect your investment!
