The 2023 Ram 1500 is still as recognizably bold and tough as ever. Improving on its age-old appeal is the kind of challenge we look forward to. On this build we went with a neutral silver and black color scheme. On top of that we decided to bulk up the truck with a lift kit, new wheel design, and fender flares. Let’s check out the details of these added accessories and how they made this custom truck.
6-Inch Lift Kit
Lift kits and leveling kits are one of the main offroad accessories people add to their builds because they provide extra ground clearance while evening out the platform. This helps the truck overcome raised obstacles on rugged terrain while making room for larger wheels and tires. On this build we installed a 6-inch lift kit from Rough Country to get the job done.
Offroad Wheel and Tire Setup
After the lift was installed, we looked in to replacing the factory wheels and tires. For a new set of offroad wheels we wanted something with strength and style like these 20-inch Fuel Krank Wheels. They have a sturdy black and silver design with 8 forked spokes centered around a large gear shaped center cap.
To go along with these new wheels, we needed some pretty tough offroad tires. The best option for trail use that doesn’t eat up too much extra fuel is the Toyo Open Country ATII Tires (35×12.5R20). These tires have great block pattern and staggered ridge design that provides resilient traction in all kinds of terrain with great on road performance.
Red Painted Calipers
Nestled behind the new wheels are freshly painted calipers. Painted calipers help to add extra detail because they are a small feature that ties the design together. The bright pop of red draws more attention to the new custom wheels as well. Covering the calipers in paint also makes them more resistant to corrosion increasing their lifespan.
Colored calipers like these red ones are a quick mod that can hint at the performance aspects of the vehicle. We also recommend applying a ceramic coating to the caliper because it makes break dust, mud, and debris easier to clean while adding an additional layer of protection.
Side Steps
Some of the best advice for anyone with a truck is to install a pair of side steps. They are one of the most useful accessories to add because they make entering and exiting your vehicle so much easier for you and your passengers. Plus, they improve the look of your vehicle while protecting its underside from damage.
When it comes to side steps there are a ton of different designs you can find out there. The steps on this lifted RAM 1500 are the N-Fab EpYx which have a long nerf bar that extends the full length of the cab. They’re made from durable stainless-steel that’s powder coated black with textured drop steps for better footing. We suggest using these steps on modern trucks because of their more angular design.
Satin Black Roof Wrap
Sticking the silver and black color scheme we applied a satin black vinyl roof and pillar wrap on the cab of this Custom RAM 1500. Roof wraps are one way to create a two tone look on your truck. Having a roof wrap in this style tends to make the cab look sharper and more condensed. You’re most likely to find a roof wrap on SUVs, but this styling can make trucks look good too.
If you’re looking for another way to personalize your custom Ram 1500, hood stripes are a quick and easy upgrade that improves the look of your truck.
Fender Flares
Another way we bulked up the exterior of this build was by installing some fender flares. These mid-sized fender flares are more subtle than bigger bolted ones, but they still make the truck appear hefty. They also have a satin black wrap to match the roof wrap and black wheel design.
Custom Leather Heated Seats
Having custom leather interior and heated seats installed on this build really elevates the driving experience of this custom RAM 1500. For this build we selected an all-black leather upholstery with a hexagonal center design to fully replace the factory cloth seats. Katzkin premium leather seating offers a ton of different options for all kinds of vehicle makes and models.
We’re going to let you in on a secret that car manufacturers don’t want you to know. The truth is you don’t have to drop tons of cash for a higher trim level when all you want is leather seating. To get to the Ram 1500 trim level that starts offering factory leather is at least $4,000 more than the average trim. Whereas getting custom leather heated seats from Katzkin is only a few thousand and can raise the value of your car.
If you decide on getting leather seats, make sure you find a preferred Katzkin installer for a professional installation. We offer factory match, or custom leather seating from Katzkin and Alea, so you’re more than likely to find something to fit your ride at a shop like ours.
