Satin Indigo Vinyl Wrap
Most of the vinyl wrapped Yukon Denali’s we build for people are satin black, so this satin indigo wrap is a unique color choice. Indigo blue has a rich history of being a luxury pigment in ancient Greece and Rome for medicine, cosmetics, and fabric dye. Color change wraps block out the original paint job, but this satin wrap goes one step further by also changing the finish from shiny gloss to a smoother texture. The wrap we use is a high quality 2080 vinyl from 3M that comes in a wide variety of custom colors.
Sometimes vinyl wraps get a bad reputation, but they’re a cost-effective way of changing your rides exterior compared to a whole new paint job. This is even more true for satin paint vs vinyl since satin paint is difficult to care for. If properly installed, vinyl wraps last up to 7 years and protect your vehicles paint from chips and corrosion. Plus removing automotive grade vinyl doesn’t harm the car whenever you want to remove your wrap or get a new one.
Custom GMC Emblems and Badges
Aside from the wrap another way we changed up this 2023 Yukon Denali’s appearance was with custom GMC emblems. Altering the emblems on a vehicle takes away the generic factory look and gives it a new personalized style. Blackout Yukon badges are an easy way to make those changes, but they can also be custom painted or even removed for whatever appearance is preferred. This build features a chrome delete GMC emblem with the center wrapped satin blue to match the rest of the SUV.
Chrome Delete
Chrome delete has been a steady design trend in the automotive industry that’s here to stay. A chrome delete is the process of covering up (“deleting”) all chrome accents on a vehicle’s trim. Chrome trim on cars is perceived by some to be outdated, cheap or generic. This can be seen in new car manufacturers like Tesla whose designs no longer incorporate chrome.
One of the characteristics of a GMC Yukon is their large chrome grille. This is often where we start the chrome delete process on this SUV by replacing this part with a blackout grille. Once this piece is revamped the whole Yukon’s appearance begins to change. Then it’s time to add more blackout parts that modernize this ride and give it a stern new look.
Other front-end pieces that get a blackout include front bumper trim, fog light bezel, and mirror accents. Even the smaller chrome pieces in nooks and crannies of this custom luxury SUV need to be blacked out to match the desired styling.
Some of the final touches on the front involve changing the fender vent accents and smoking the orange side markers. Smoking the side markers is when a tinted clear coat is used to darken them. With side markers and safety features like brake lights and headlights, it’s wise to only lightly darken them so they remain in compliance.
Other chrome trim in the middle can be a bit trickier to eliminate. The roof rails needed to be pulled off from the top of the car and painted. They’re followed by the fine edges of the window trim which are thin and delicate pieces, which makes it difficult to work with at times. After the windows the chrome on the door handles and lower body molds below the doors are also deleted.
Finally, parts of the trim like the exhaust tips, rear bumper trim, and rear hatch valance on the back end all have exposed chrome that needs to go. Once they’re taken care of this Indigo blue Yukon Denali has complete chrome delete trim!
Black Painted Calipers
To continue adding blackout features we even went ahead and painted the brake calipers black. Painted calipers help to prevent corrosion while adding a new level of design which gives the car more depth. On this Yukon Denali the black calipers pair with the new blackout emblems and black rims.
When painting calipers it is very important to use a durable and heat resistant paint. To further protect your caliper and its paint from the wear and tear of the road we suggest using a ceramic coating. Ceramic coatings create a water and debris resistant barrier that can be applied to the entire car which makes cleaning super easy. When you coat your wheels and calipers using a ceramic coating it makes removing caked on brake dust a much quicker process.
Ceramic Coating
Applying our Ceramic Solutions formula over vinyl or factory paint forms a chemical bond that helps to resist dirt, grime, and chemical damage. These ceramic coatings have a great benefit of making your car super easy to clean, so it takes less effort to clean your ride.
Window Tint
The final touch that was added to this Yukon was 3M window tint film. Aside from improved its interior protection and style, window tint has the often-overlooked benefit of solar energy rejection. This helps keep your interior cooler during hot summer months and protect plastics in the dash from sun fading over time. The reduced heat and timeless allure window tint can create for your ride makes it a great GMC Yukon accessory!
While window tint is a solid appearance upgrade to make on any vehicle it’s important to know that not all tint is made equal. We only use 3M tint because of their benefits over competing brands. We wrote a whole article about the benefits of 3M tint to help you learn more before making your decision.
Tints are offered from 5% to 70% with the lower numbers being darker. The % measures VLT (Visual Light Transference) which quantifies how much light comes through the film. When you go to select your tint, you need to keep in mind your local laws, so that you don’t get ticketed. We always recommend a professional install for this modification. Poor tint jobs will bubble and discolor over time. Make sure your window tint installer has a good warranty to protect your investment!
