We had our first Tesla Cybertruck come in for a vinyl wrap! This beast of an electric vehicle is so different from everything else on the road. From the way it drives to its overall aesthetics this truck has been stoking flames of controversy. Is it even a truck?
Wrapping The Cybertruck Satin Black
Our client wanted us to cover the steel exterior with something a bit more personalized. Since the Cybertruck isn’t offered in any options other than stainless, vinyl wraps are gonna be the only way to make them fit the style you want. For this Cybertruck we wrapped it in a sleek 3M 2080-S12 satin black vinyl. We quickly realized that this Sci-Fi styled truck was a breeze to wrap!
Good thing too because that steel exterior picks up handprints and other grime like crazy. Since it can be hard to keep clean we imagine a lot of Cybertruck owners will opt for a vinyl wrap.
Which is great since there are tons of amazing color options available! In our opinion metallic color wraps, or black wraps with flecks of color would look great on this truck. Tesla does offer some great wrap colors of their own like satin crimson chrome and satin iridescent purple. Just keep in mind that your options aren’t limited to only the wraps Tesla has.
Applying A Ceramic Coating
Our next goal is to protect the look of this wrap. We applied a ceramic coating directly to the satin film. It’s the same process as applying to paint and provides the same benefits. Ceramic coatings bind to the surface and create a protective layer atop the film. It effectively fills in any microscopic variations in the surface. These are imperceivable to the human eye but result in a silky-smooth finish that leaves grime with nowhere to stick.
After a ceramic application your body panels are considered superhydrophobic surfaces. Think Rain-X, but on steroids! Water bounces off and simply refuses to stick. But unlike a DIY solution, our coatings are warrantied for 5 years so you have long-lasting protection.
Another huge benefit of ceramic coating a wrap film is the added surface hardness. This creates more resistance to scratching and scuffing. This is especially important with non-glossy films which are more susceptible to damage.
Tinting The Windows
After we got the wrap installed and the ceramic applied we followed it up with some tinted windows to give it fierce look. The blackout styling on this ride makes it look similar to the Batmobile or a Nighthawk jet. Those sharp angles and custom Good Year tires help to create a strange utilitarian look only Cybertruck can pull off.
One of the more practical reasons for a window tint is that it will help reject some of the heat since this car is fully blacked out. Plus it blocks UV rays from blurring your vision or burning your skin.
