Since the roll out of the new Ford Broncos, we’ve been surprised that we haven’t seen very many customized ones! Personalizing your Bronco with mods and accessories doesn’t need to be daunting and can really add to the look of your new off-road SUV.
For this black Bronco build we made a few simple upgrades that provide value to the vehicle. Mods like PPF, Lighting, and Window tint are usually quite easy to work with and leave plenty of room for future improvements.

Offroad LED Lighting
Installing off-road LED lighting was our first move, so we could give this simple offroad Bronco build a touch more utility. LED light bars are great for illuminating your campsite or running along off-road trails at night. Aside from their practical uses LED accessories help create that rugged custom look. All the off-road LED lighting for this build was sourced from Rough Country.
The first off-road lighting accessories that we hooked up on this Bronco were a pair of ditch lights that are located by the rearview mirrors. Cube or round ditch lights have an adjustable LED pod of flood lights that are often angled to the sides of the vehicle for navigating terrain at night.
Accompanying the ditch lights is a long 50-inch LED light bar mounted at the roof by the top of the windshield. With this large LED upgrade, the area far ahead of the vehicle is strongly illuminated to increase visibility of what obstacles or actions are going on.
Window Tint
Since this Bronco is nearly all black, we decided to go a step further with a window tint. Applying a tinted film to your windows has loads of benefits like protecting your interior, your valuables, and most importantly you from the sunβs rays. Of course, having darker windows can also provide more privacy and give the vehicle a stern look to it.
In our shop we use a high-quality 3M Premium FX tint film that comes in a 5%, 20%, and 35% VLT (visual light transference). The lower % the darker the film. We applied a 35% tint on the front windows to better match the back windows and their factory shade. Rear windows are usually darker when they leave factory and donβt always require an additional tint.
When you go to select your tint, you need to keep in mind your local laws so that you donβt get ticketed. We always recommend a professional install for this modification. Poor tint jobs will bubble and discolor over time. Make sure your window tint installer has a good warranty to protect your investment!
Paint Protection Film
PPF is the best way to protect the paint on your vehicle, which is important since its paint plays a factor in resale value and overall longevity. Our team applied PPF film to protect the front end of this modified Ford Bronco from high impact debris on the road. The paint protection film helps prevent damage since chipping can lead to costly touch ups, or rust over time.
The cube-like grille on Trucks and some SUVs makes PPF even more important. Rocks and debris hit the paint in a more direct way smacking straight into the paint instead of rolling off body curves which leads to a greater chance of chipping. If you bought a Bronco for off-road use, then PPF is going to be your best friend and can be used all around your car.
For more peace of mind and an easy clean a ceramic coating could be applied over the paint after the PPF is applied. Ceramic coating is just another protective layer to prevent dirt build up and deflect water.
Additional Add-Ons
Another small accessory you can add on your build that adds some great detail for a low cost are woven nylon grab handles. Aside from these small starter mods and upgrades you could start to look for larger accessories like nerf steps, a new wheel and tire setup, or nudge bars. There are tons of ways to modify your bronco that best fit your needs!
