Wheel & Tire Setup
To kickoff this blackout off-road Silverado build, we grabbed a set of Toyo Open Country A/T III tires and wrapped them around the factory wheels. The wheels already offer a great off-road design from the factory, so we added some powder coating to match the all-black styling.
To accommodate the new tires, we needed to add 2-inch wheel spacers from Rough Country. These not only give the truck a wider, more aggressive stance, but also serve to increase functionality.
6-inch Lift Kit
To help further improve the offroad-ability of this Silverado, we added a behemoth 6-inch lift kit from our friends over at Fabtech. One massive benefit of this kit are the oversized tie rods which are designed to handle oversized tires.
We didn’t stop there though; we also added a set of Fabtech Dirt Logic shocks to this Silverado for a total suspension overhaul! The Dirt Logic shocks are constructed with stainless steel to provide maximum corrosion resistance, as well as a superior ride quality!
Side Steps
With the roof completely raised on this Silverado, we needed to add some assist steps for ease of usage. For this, we opted for a pair of Chevrolet Sport steps on this Silverado.
This genuine Chevy accessory assist step offers a great deal of functionality, but also an equal amount of style. These boards provide an increase in traction and accessibility, even when you’re out on muddy trails.
Blackout Emblems & Badges
The steps aren’t the only mod we sourced from Chevy themselves, we also added some blackout emblems and badges! We of course had to grab the iconic illuminated bowtie badge to put on this blackout Silverado. Illuminated badges are becoming more and more common from the factory, offering a luxury appearance.
Since GM also offers blackout emblems for the 2021 Silverado, we picked up a complete kit. Blackout emblems are a quick and easy way to get your ride looking sleek, especially if you aren’t a fan of chrome accents!
Window Tint
To give this Silverado some additional blackout flare, we grabbed a roll of 3M Premium FX tint and went to work. With 20% tint all around this Silverado, we also added some spice with a tint eyebrow on the windshield.
Tint is a great appearance upgrade to any vehicle, but it’s important to know that not all tint is made equal. We only use 3M tint because of their benefits over competing brands. We wrote a whole article about the benefits of 3M tint which you can read here.
Exhaust System
With the appearance of this Silverado nearly complete, we focused on sound next. To let the owner of this Silverdo hear all of the ponies this puppy puts out, we bolted up a new exhaust system from Borla. What’s an offroad truck without a sweet exhaust note right?
Subwoofer Setup
Speaking of sounds, we also increased the sensation of this Silverado with a Kicker Subwoofer. Kicker and Chevrolet worked closely with one another to create a “plug-n-play,” subwoofer setup for the Silverado. This system allows you to maintain a factory appearance while getting a complete upgrade in audio quality.
Katzkin Premium Leather Seating
Beyond the new subwoofer, we also opted to add some Katzkin premium leather seating to this beast. One of the unkown secrets of the auto world is that you don’t actually have to pay thousands for a higher trim level when all you want is leather seating!
We offer factory match leather seating, or custom leather seating from Katzkin so you’re sure to find something to fit your style!
Potential Addons
With so much done to make this Silverado ready for any adventure, one addition could be tailgate letter inlays. We’re not a fan of the stamped tailgate trend in currently going on in the truck world. Adding vinyl inlays are a great way to give your tailgate an upgraded look, and a quick DIY project!
