There’s nothing more American than the pickup truck, and Ford has been innovating this American icon for over 70 years. The 2021 Ford F-150 comes pre-packaged with tons of features that make it a capable offroad machine, but we wanted to take it a step further.
Tires & Wheel Spacers
One of the most important upgrades you can make to your vehicle is the tires. They are the only part of your ride connected to the road (hopefully). To give this 21 F-150 some additional offroad grip, we added a set of Maxxis Razr AT rubber (33×12.5R20). The Razr AT offers impressive, quiet on-road features with the ability to forge your own path at any time!
To give this F-150 Supercrew some additional offroad stance, we added a set of Rough Country’s 2-inch wheel spacers. Wheel spacers do exactly what the name implies, space the wheels out from the hub. This allows you to keep your existing wheels, while increasing the overall track width of your truck (great for budget conscious buyers)!
Painted Brake Calipers
For an increased aesthetic just behind the factory wheels on this F-150 are a set of gloss red painted calipers. Painted calipers are a great way to improve the appearance of your ride without shelling out thousands for upgraded calipers. It’s extremely important to g et the job done right though.
In some cases, your brake calipers can get hotter than the engine, so it’s important not to go with a good ole rattle can solution. The heat, debris, road grime, and other factors should be considered when considering a DIY rattle can job. We only use heat resistant paints that offer chemical and physical protection of the calipers (benefits you won’t find with a rattle can job).
2-Inch Leveling Kit
The goal for this F-150 was to achieve the perfect balance of performance, style, and functionality. To help in all three of these categories we needed help from Rough Country and their 2-inch leveling kit for the F-150.
Rough Country has gone the extra mile to create a leveling kit that maintains a smooth, uncompromised ride, while also leveling the front of the truck with the rear. What’s more is the fact that these are backed by Rough Country’s lifetime replacement warranty for extra peace of mind.
Blackout Emblems & Badges
For some extra flare on this F-150 Supercrew we surrounded this build with blackout emblems & badges. With the rest of this build blacked out, Ford Blue emblems stand out like a sore thumb so we did away with them! Up front and in the rear we gave the emblems a silver metallic paint job with black accents for a unique look.
On the F-150 XLT side badges, we opted for a gloss black finish. This gives them a sleek finish that blends in well with the factory paint.
Spray in Bedliner
For some increased functionality, we gave this F-150 a coating of spray in bedliner. Spray in bedliners help decrease wear and tear on your bed without the negatives that come with a regular plastic bedliner. Two of the many pitfalls of a more traditional bedliner is trapped moisture, and noise.
Since spray in bedliners adhere to your truck’s paint, there’s no opportunity for moisture to get trapped under the liner causing rust or corrosion. In addition, wind and movement in the bed won’t cause an annoying plastic rattling noise like with your standard plastic mold bedliner.
Potential Addons
The 2021 Ford F-150 comes well equipped from the factory and with our improvements it’s a challenge to find places of improvement. One potential addon to give this F-150 some additional protection is ceramic coating. With ceramic coating mud, dirt, and road debris slide right off the paint, so you can spend more time enjoying your vehicle and less time maintaining it!
