Black Powder Coated Wheels
If your lucky you got black stock wheels from the dealer, if not you can powder coat them black like we did! Stock GMC wheels on the 2023 Yukon Denali look alright with their first class design, but the chrome isn’t the look this customer wanted. Using our inhouse powder coat booth we covered them in a gloss black finish. Applying a powder coat finish to your wheels is a great option compared to buying an expensive new wheel design.
Powder coat finishes are a simple way to customize the color of your wheels and enhance their durability. Not only are they customizable they are very sturdy preventing road rash and protecting against chemical damage. Metal parts like tow-hooks or exhaust tips can be powder coated to further personalize your vehicle.
Red Painted Calipers
With this bold red paint job we had the opportunity to throw in a matching pop of color behind the wheels. We made gloss red painted brake caliper that fit the color scheme. Red isn’t the only color you can choose though! You can paint your calipers yellow, pink, blue, or green among other popular colors. Having your calipers painted is a great way to personalize your ride!
When painting calipers, it is very important to use a durable and heat resistant paint. Calipers take a ton of abuse from the road with gravel, dirt, water, and chemicals so the extra barrier of strong paint adds protection along with style.
Blackout Emblems and Badges
Our eradication of chrome continues with the emblems. Both the front and rear GMC emblems had the our chrome accent blacked out. By customizing the factory emblems, you make the car more your own rather than the manufacturers.
In order to match this new styling the nameplate lettering for Yukon and Denali were also exchanged. These old chrome elements become less shiny and distracting with the solid black appearance. Black just has sense of class and refinement that chrome doesn’t.
Chrome Delete Trim
Now comes the more prominent pieces of the chrome delete. Large portions of the trim are taken care of with our premium blackout kit. Starting on the front-end, our custom blackout replacement grille clears a huge chunk of chrome. This is the focal point of the chrome delete that looks awesome on our blacked out Yukon Builds.
Other blackout Yukon parts on the front end like the front bumper trim, fog light bezel, and mirror accents are modified in the same way. You can see the process of removing these parts in this chrome delete video.
As we start to move toward the rear, the fender vent accents become gloss black and the orange side markers are smoked. Smoking is the term for using a tinted clear coat on transparent emblems or taillights to darken them. This look can also be achieved with a tinted film like those used on windows.
Roof rails at the top of the vehicle are removed and powder coated black. While delicate pieces of window trim are removed and carefully reinstalled. The skilled technicians at VIP Auto Accessories have ton of experience working with a number of blackouts making this a cinch. Pieces beneath the windows include the door handles and lower body molds are next up to be deleted.
Otherwise, trim areas like the exhaust tips, rear bumper trim, and rear hatch valance on the back are the last bits of chrome that are replaced. Once they’re taken care of this custom Yukon Denali becomes a full chrome delete SUV.
Ceramic Coating
A small touch to boost the appearance of this ride is the ceramic coating we installed. Our Ceramic Solutions formula adheres to paint forming a chemical bond that helps to repel dirt and grime while resisting chemical damage. These coatings are perfect because they increase shine and make your car super easy to clean. That way your ride takes less effort to stay shiny new!
Window Tint
Capping this build off we have classic window tint film. 3M window tint helps block solar energy in the form of UV and Infrared rays. That means it keeps your ride cooler in the summer months and keeps harsh sunlight off you. Not to mention the classic allure window tint creates for your ride changing its demeanor!
Tint is a solid appearance upgrade to make on any vehicle, but it’s important to know that not all tint is made equal. We only use 3M tint because of their benefits over competing brands. We wrote a whole article about the benefits of 3M tint to help you learn more before making your decision.
Tints are offered from 5% to 70% with the lower numbers being darker. The % measures VLT (Visual Light Transference) which quantifies how much light comes through the film. When you go to select your tint, you need to keep in mind your local laws, so that you don’t get ticketed. We always recommend a professional install for this modification. Poor tint jobs will bubble and discolor over time. Make sure your window tint installer has a good warranty to protect your investment!
