The winning vehicle was built by VIP Distributing Company of St. Louis, and several members of the team were in attendance to accept the award. “The reception to these vehicles has really been unbelievable,” said Chad Roberts, general manager of VIP. “We’ve spent the past two years improving our process and parts, so this win really means a lot.”
Now in its third year, the competition is hosted by SEMA Professional Restyler’s Organization (PRO). It focuses on the customization of new-model vehicles in an effort to raise awareness of vehicle accessorizing to the general public. Six members are chosen each year to enter the competition, and must create a package for a new model car or truck that would be marketable, easy to replicate, and profitable in a dealership setting. Since it began in 2021, the competition has become a fixture at SEMA Show, the premier automotive specialty equipment trade show in the world.
“The Denali is the peak of luxury, but many buyers are asking for the features without all the glitzy shine,” said Jason Prott, marketing manager of VIP. “Our package hits that need by replacing every piece of exterior chrome with gloss black alternatives.”
In addition to the competition, VIP came to the show hoping to build new relationships. “We’ve received a lot of requests from other shops to use this package on their own vehicles,” said Prott. “We’re launching a dealer program at the end of the year to help other shops succeed and give our online customers a network of trusted installers across the country.” Interested shops can sign up for the program at nomorechrome.com.
The competition also awards an overall winner as picked by a panel of industry judges. Auto Sunroof and Leather, a restyling shop in Chester, New York took home this award for their 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Premium dog-lover package.
