Jeep describes the All-New Wagoneer as reinterpreting its iconic legacy. We did some more “reinterpreting” and gave it the all-black treatment. This 2022 Jeep Wagoneer Series II features a chrome delete package that gives the SUV an “FBI” look. This puts in on par with the Grand Wagoneer’s “Obsidian” package and then goes even farther.
Unlike the Obsidian trim, this package isn’t exclusive to the Grand Wagoneer. It’s compatible with any trim Wagoneer. It also eliminates 100% of the chrome on the exterior–something the Obsidian doesn’t even do.

Front End
The front end of every Wagoneer features a ton of chrome. We start with painting the grille trim and inserts. Then we repaint the nameplate and keep moving down. The lower grille trim and valance repaint finishes the front.
Body
We remove the rocker panel, mirror, belt molding, and window trim pieces and repaint them. The same goes for the nameplates on the doors.
We continue this process on the rear of the vehicle. The rear tail light and window trim is repainted, along with the rear nameplate.
A subtle change that is also done is to the side marker lights. These are smoked with a tinted clearcoat. This gives them a stealth appearance without hindering their function.
This Wagoneer Series II still has the factory standard grey underbody trim. You can find it at the bottom of the body surrounding the wheel wells and wrapping around the back (serving as the rear bumper).
All of this can be painted, but we left it alone for this build. The black and grey monochromatic style worked for us here. If you have a brighter paint color like Velvet Red or Bright White you might consider adding this to your build.
Wheels & Brake Calipers
Our Wagoneer Series II came with the optional 22-inch aluminum wheels. They feature painted black pockets, but we wanted them 100% black. We powder coated them gloss black for a uniform blackout look and durable finish.
We also painted the brake calipers black to complete the stealth appearance. I’m a fan of caliper colors that pop (like red or yellow), but it’s more than just a cosmetic change. Regardless of what color you choose the paint prevents your calipers from corroding.
Potential Addon – Roof Wrap
Another option available for the Wagoneer is a roof wrap. The Wagoneer doesn’t offer a two-tone exterior paint like the Grand Wagoneer. You can achieve this with a roof wrap. We wrap the roof and A-pillars with high performance vehicle film to give you the appearance of a painted two-tone.
Wraps are great because they don’t damage your paint and can be removed at any time. They also serve as an impromptu paint protection film–shielding you from minor rock chips.
