The 2021 Ford F-150 features a bold new design that doesn’t quit till the job is finished. With eye catching color options like Rapid Red featured on this build it’s hard not to like the F-150 in stock form. We kept the upgrades on this F-150 pretty light while still managing to make this truck stand out from the crowd!
2-Inch Leveling Kit
One of our most common upgrades to the 2021 Ford F-150 is a leveling kit. Rough Country offers a 2-inch leveling kit that gives the F-150 a level stance, and a touch of increased ground clearance!
The F-150 like most trucks on the market come from the factory with rake, and that’s where leveling kits come in. Rake on a vehicle is pretty much when the front (or more often) the rear sits slightly higher than the opposite end.
Negative rake is referred to when a vehicle’s rear end is lower than the front end. It’s also been nicknamed the Carolina Squat. Positive rake is much more common and occurs when the rear end of the vehicle sits higher than the front. A lot of drag cars have positive rake for example.
Wheel & Tire Package
Sitting just below our newly leveled suspension is a set of stock F-150 wheels wrapped in Toyo Open Country AT II 33/12.5R 20 rubber. We typically swap out wheels on our offroad builds, but the 2021 F-150 comes stock with some sleek alloys. We also added a set of 2-inch wheel spacers to give this F-150 a slightly wider stance.
Tucked in behind the wheel and tire are painted calipers on all four corners of this F-150. We went ahead and color matched the calipers to the body color for a standout appearance. Painted brake calipers are a simple and cost-effective way to customize your ride!
Painted Emblems & Badges
One thing that stood out to us when this F-150 rolled into our shop was the blue badges contrasting the Rapid Red paint. We let our guys in the paint booth tinker with the badges and the result is these black and Rapid Red Ford badges on the front and rear!
Looking to the sides of this F-150 and you’ll notice the blackout XLT emblems. We added a layer of black tinted clear coat to the chrome accents on the XLT emblems for a truly unique look.
F-150 Tailgate Inlay
Around back of this F-150 we slapped on a set of gloss black tailgate inlay letters. With no options for tailgate letters on the market, we took matters into our own hands and created these. Designed to lay perfectly on your tailgate, these F-150 tailgate letter inlays are a breeze to install and add to the appearance of the F-150!
Bedcover / Bedliner
Looking just above the tailgate is the BAK Revolver rolling tonneau cover we added to protect the bed of this F-150. Tonneau covers are a great way to add additional protection to the bed of your truck, as well as increase security.
Hidden just beneath the tonneau cover we added a coating of spray in bedliner. Spray in bedliner is great because it prevents moisture from getting trapped unlike plastic bedliners. In addition, spray in bedliners won’t move around like plastic ones, which can create some undesired noise!
Leather Interior
One downfall of the XLT is that Ford doesn’t include the option for leather seats. This is a common trick among manufacturers in hopes to make you get the higher trim level. What they don’t want you to know is that installers like us can install Katzkin Factory Match leather at a fraction of the cost!
Why pay for the higher trim level when all you want is leather seats?
Ceramic Coating
For total exterior protection we treated this truck to a ceramic coating. Our Ceramic Solutions formula chemically bonds to the paint on your vehicle. This allows it to keep road grime, dirt, and even acidic rain from damaging your paint!
Even better is the fact that you just wash your car as normal. Ceramic solutions allow you to spend more time enjoying your ride, and less time cleaning and maintaining it!
Window Tint
To finish off this F-150 we added our 3M FX Premium Tint to the front two windows. We recently switched our tint film provider to 3M, which you can read more about here!
