In 2021 GM unveiled a new generation of SUVs, and with it came the freshly redesigned Tahoe, Yukon, and Suburban. The aggressive and angular design elements make them prime candidates for blackout builds.
From the factory, the Tahoe LS contains some subtle chrome elements, but we decided to completely murder out this 2021 Chevy Tahoe LS with a chrome delete. We gave a similar treatment to this 2021 GMC Yukon Denali.
Badges and Nameplates
To start off this build we added a set of Tahoe blackout nameplates from GM. This Tahoe already came with the blackout Chevy bowties so that made our job a little easier. Blackout emblems are a great way to change the look of your ride without making your wallet cry. The chevy emblem on the backl however still needed to be taken off to swap out the rear hatch valance.
Powder Coated Wheels and Painted Brake Calipers
To match the energy of the emblems, we had to tweak those bland wheels. We gave the stock wheels a treatment of gloss black powder coating. Wheels play a huge role in the appearance of your vehicle, and powder coating is a great option to customize them!
While the wheels were off, we gave the brake calipers a fresh coat of gloss black high durability paint. Painted brake calipers are a great way to add a personalized design accent to your build.
Chrome Delete
Chrome deleting the Chevy Tahoe can be done with a vinyl wrap, professional painting, or by using Tahoe blackout parts. Instead of using a temporary wrap on the tricky parts like window trim we replaced it with a blackout window molding. This provides a high-quality professional look and will last much longer.
These parts were also used to substitute the front bumper and rear bumper trim pieces. However, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe blackout grille makes one of the biggest appearance differences.
The roof rails on this custom Tahoe came with a factory chrome finish. If we didn’t have the blackout replacement parts for them, we would have had to paint them.
Lastly, chrome accents on the side steps and door handles needed to be swapped for blackout versions. The lower running board trim and door handles look sleeker than ever in their gloss black finish.
Ceramic Coating
To protect this Tahoe, we added some of our Ceramic Solutions paint protection. Ceramic coatings provide additional protection to your paint to fight against road grime and other paint contaminants. With ceramic coating you can spend less time cleaning, and more time on the road enjoying your ride with peace of mind knowing you’re protected.
Window Tint
To round out this blackout Tahoe, we added window tint to the front windows. The rear windows come with 20% tint, so we wanted to match those. Typically, the front windows of a new car have very little, or no tinting to broadly comply with state laws.
Having your windows tinted provides a lot of relief from sunlight and heat. This can be extra important for blackout builds especially in the hot summer months!
