If you want a dark and assertive look for your GMC Sierra HD 3500 then installing chrome delete trim is the way to go. Eliminating the chrome accents creates a low profile and sinister appearance that shiny chrome can’t.
Chrome Delete Trim
Our chrome delete starts at the front end removing the massive grille and swapping it with a blackout Sierra HD 3500 Denali style grille. Below the black Sierra HD grille is the new blackout front bumper trim which erases even more chrome. While replacing the front bumper trim you can install custom powder coated tow hooks in a flash. Fog lamp bezels on each side of the front bumper were also darkened to round out the look of the front end.
On this custom Sierra HD 3500 we used a specially painted GMC emblem that keeps the red lettering while removing the chrome outline. The emblem on the tailgate was also swapped for the same version. All the badging on this truck was given the chrome delete treatment. Modifying emblems like this makes the truck feel more of your own since it becomes fitted to suit your taste, not the manufacturers.
As this Sierra HD joined the dark side piece by piece we started to get into smaller details like the fender vents and mirror caps. These black GMC HD 3500 fender vents and mirror caps have a muted appearance that stands out less than the chrome.
The rest of the chrome delete trim on this build includes color matched door handles and blackout window trim. Blackout trim drives home the stern appearance for this GMC truck especially when paired with window tint.
Black Powder Coated Wheels
With all the chrome trim wiped out the chrome factory wheels are looking out of place. We fixed that by applying a gloss black powder coat finish to the current wheel design. You could also choose a custom wheel design, but selecting a powder coat finish has some nice added benefits.
Using a powder coat finish will often be more affordable than custom wheels and it increases the wheels durability. Plus, powder coating gives you a ton of color options with a safer environmental impact compared to paint.
Tinted Windows
Not only will installing a window tint film deliver sleek style points, it has practical benefits you might not know about. Tinted windows will create privacy and provide protection from harsh UV rays for yourself, your passengers, your cargo, and your vehicles interior.
High quality 3M premium window tint film is what we use in our shop. Often times we apply a light 35% tint on the front windows leaving the back windows at their factory shade. Rear windows are usually darker when they leave factory and don’t always require the cost of additional tinting.
When you go to select your tint, keep in mind your local laws so that you don’t get ticketed. Or you can get a medical exemption since window tint is recommended by the skin cancer foundation. We always recommend a professional install for this modification. Poor tint jobs will bubble and discolor over time. Make sure your window tint installer has a good warranty to protect your investment!
