Not a fan of the chrome accents on your GMC Sierra HD 3500 Denali? Luckily you can create a more low profile look! For those who are fans of a more rugged and stealthy look a chrome delete can form the appearance you want. By adding a few more upgrades to the GMC Sierra HD 3500’s already impressive list of features, you can build your ideal ride.
Chrome Delete Trim
Removing the chrome from your Sierra HD 3500 will make a pretty drastic change to its appearance. This blackout GMC Sierra features parts like a premium Vader Chrome Sierra HD 3500 Denali grille. Instead of going with complete blackout grille the tinted Vader Chrome grille has a little bit of bling left in it which this client enjoyed. However the grille is the only one of 3 Vader Chrome pieces and it can only be found on the Denali Ultimate edition.
Right beneath the Vader Chrome grille is all new Vader Chrome front bumper trim that eliminates the original chrome. Using a Vader Chrome front bumper accent ties the look of the front together so that it doesn’t appear patchy or out of place. When we replaced the front bumper trim we installed blackout tow hooks to further improve the new styling. You could also select a blackout front bumper trim if you only wanted. The fog lamp bezels on each side of the grille required some chrome delete treatment as well in order to finish off our Vader Chrome parts.
People sometimes choose to swap their tow hooks out for red ones to match the original red GMC emblem. On this custom Sierra HD 3500 Denali we used a black GMC emblem to go along with the new black trim pieces. Even the emblem on the tailgate was swapped for a black version. Subtle mods like this help enhance the trucks styling by accenting parts of its design and altering the branding to suit your taste.
With the large chrome pieces on the front out of the way we turned our attention to smaller details like the fender vents and mirror caps that were next to get blacked out. These GMC HD 3500 fender vents and mirror caps have a darker look than chrome that doesn’t standout as much.
The rest of the chrome delete trim including door handles and window trim were taken care of in a breeze. Having blackout trim on this build creates strong and stern appearance for this bold GMC truck.
Black Powder Coated Wheels
Even the factory wheels aren’t immune from getting covered in chrome. To match the rest of this build we either had to find a nice custom set or apply a gloss black powder coat finish to the current wheel design. Our client chose to apply a powder coat finish because of its added benefits.
Using a powder coat finish will often be cheaper than custom wheels and it increases their durability. Plus, powder coating gives you a ton of color options with a safer environmental impact compared to paint.
Tinted Windows
Not only will installing a window tint film deliver sleek style points, it has practical benefits you might not know about. Tinted windows will create privacy and provide protection from harsh UV rays for yourself, your passengers, your cargo, and your vehicles interior.
High quality 3M premium window tint film is what we use in our shop. Often times we apply a light 35% tint on the front windows leaving the back windows at their factory shade. Rear windows are usually darker when they leave factory and don’t always require the cost of additional tinting.
When you go to select your tint, keep in mind your local laws so that you don’t get ticketed. Or you can get a medical exemption since window tint is recommended by the skin cancer foundation. We always recommend a professional install for this modification. Poor tint jobs will bubble and discolor over time. Make sure your window tint installer has a good warranty to protect your investment!
