Over past decades the Chevy Suburban has grown a reputation as an enduring SUV. We decided to give this 2024 Suburban a more covert look with darker chrome delete trim and a few other accessory modifications.
The Chrome Delete Process
To start we removed all the original factory chrome emblems and trim from this build. To bring this Suburban to the dark side to we made custom blackout chevy bowtie emblem. Altering the emblems like this let us really sell the new look making it more personalized.
Of course you can’t stop at just one emblem… The Suburban nameplates on the sides and rear we replaced with blackout versions. Black lettering like this doesn’t stand out as much as chrome creating a sleek and subtle look.
For the larger trim pieces we busted out our replacement parts. These durable black trim pieces offer a clean cohesive look and durability for the road ahead. You’d be amazed how much a blackout High Country grille can change the entire appearance of the Chevy Suburban.
Eliminating the small strip of chrome on the front bumper cleans up the design of the front fascia. Having an all black appearance lets the front appear more stern and solid compared to chunks of chrome.
One section of chrome we couldn’t wait to remove was the window molding. Installing blackout window molding is an absolute must for this build to make the trim look less hockey stick like. Small chrome accents on the door handles were also erased. Using a replacement parts here works best since paint jobs or vinyl wraps can break down in these delicate high use areas.
To get the full blackout look we even altered trim on the roof rails and running board trim. We also installed smoked side markers to cut down on their bright orange appearance.
Finishing up the trim at the tailgate we added a new blackout rear bumper and rear hatch valance. Down at the exhaust beneath you’ll find gloss black powder coated exhaust tips that were used to erase as much chrome as we could.
Overall the chrome delete creates a clean cohesive look. The shadowy black accents create a very low profile appearance that draws you in. A quick and easy way to find all the parts on this build is to check out our Chevy Suburban premium blackout kit!
Custom Luxury Rims
This client wanted to boost the luxury appeal of their Suburban. They selected a gloss black Dolce Luxury Trento 24×10 rim. Lots of thin black spokes make up their design similar to other older luxury SUV brands like Rolls Royce.
Red Painted Calipers
Tucked behind the wheels is a pop of color on the brake calipers. By painting the calipers a rich glossy red we were able to add another custom touch to this build. Painted calipers help to add a layer of protection against corrosion that extends their life span. colors like red, yellow, and orange often give a sense of high performance too.
Window Tint Film
The last accessory added to this Chevy Suburban blackout was window tint. It may just be the easiest and most important accessory for any vehicle, but especially blackout builds. Tinted films reject infrared and UV rays to block heat and sun glare. It protects you, your cargo, and your interior. Window tint is even recommended by the skin cancer foundation!
When you go to select your tint, you need to keep in mind your local laws so that you don’t get ticketed. We always recommend a professional install for this modification. Poor tint jobs will bubble and discolor over time. Make sure your window tint installer has a good warranty to protect your investment!
